Sorry, didn't realize the title was going to post when I created my account - typing up the actual question now.
So I'm finally getting to experiment with Aeon Timeline again, and trying to create a custom calendar/timeline for a book I'm working on. In this timeline, I'm thinking of the reigns of different kings and queens as eras, divided into years, months, and days. This book is still a WIP - I don't have the entire plot yet, and am figuring it out as I go along. Unfortunately, that means I don't necessarily know the duration of each of the reigns yet. I have a very broad idea, but things change as I write. However, since I can't edit the calendar once I start adding in events, it limits my flexibility to change these eras once I've started building the timeline/outline. Is there some other value other than "era" that would be fitting to group certain years together? If so, I could just leave the eras alone, and play with the reigns on that level.
Hi, No there isn't exactly anything that groups certain years together, the closest thing would be to create a parent event for each reign - and put all the events that occurred within that reign as child events. This would allow you to adjust the time period of the reign as you go, however the dates of the events themselves would still be independent of the reign, as opposed to if you represented the reigns as eras. You can read about parent and child events here: https://help.aeontimeline.com/article/62-nested-events Jess
Thank you! I think that might work for my (planning) purposes for the time being. I was planning to have dates be based on the reigns, but it sounds like that might not be possible as it is now.
