I know that the Aeon Timeline developers, understandably, can't take time to offer official support for Linux. :) This post is directed at any users interested in putting our heads together and sharing experiences to see if we can get AT2 working on Linux via WINE.
Has anyone had success with this and if so, could you share what settings you're using?
I recently tried to get it working using the same setup I use for Scrivener, which works perfectly. I was able to install and activate AT2, but after that it crashes on startup. I'm on Linux Mint 19.2 using PlayOnLinux. Via POL I've set Aeon to use WINE 4.17 staging and Windows 7. I also installed .NET Framework 4.5 (which to my knowledge is required for any application that uses Paddle for licensing). Using stable or earlier versions of WINE didn't help.

Ok, i used pol 4.3.4 and wine version 5.0 rc5 today. AT runs now, the crash just after starting it does not happen anymore. Note: I used win7 (32-bit) because the crash is made by something which is called directmanipulaton (an api introduced by microsoft with win 8).

The only thing that fails is the attempt to register it.

Hi noba, sorry I didn't see your reply before. That is fantastic news! Thank you so much for sharing which versions you're using. I can't wait to try this on Linux. I'll report back what results I get as well. Do you have .NET Framework 4.5 installed on the virtual drive? Scrivener users on Linux reported this fixes registration issues for them, and I found it works with Aeon as well.
