Editing Events

Want to start off by giving props for a job well done. Love the tool. I would like to suggest a workflow for events in the timeline. It would be nice to be able to do more edits without going _outside_ of the timeline. One such case would be editing the range portion of events. Since we are working in a timeline and the events kinda look like _clips_ in video editing software, I think it would be neat to be able to drag the righ/left margins of the event to edit the range. For events that rely on each other -> If the current event depends on a previous event, then you should only be able to move the right margin. Any child of the current event should move accordingly. This would help me when I'm exploring when events, that don't have a home yet, can/should take place. And would allow me to work faster so that I can move on to the next idea. P.S As an overall suggestion, the more I can do inside the timeline editor, the better. That would allow me to keep the stream of ideas flowing.

Also, maybe a way to pan around in the timeline view. Maybe middle mouse could allow you to pan left or right. Could also maintain some inertia after (like phone navigation) for longer timelines. (Though, zooming out and _then_ panning might be the better way).

Hi, While Aeon Timeline might not provide all of what you are looking for, a couple of things you mentioned do exist. If you want to adjust the end date of a current event on the timeline, you can do so by holding down 'Alt' while dragging an event. This will change the end date of the event (effectively dragging the right margin to adjust the range). There is no way to do this same thing with the start date (changing the start date while keeping the end date the same), instead dragging the event will adjust the start date, but keep the duration the same (therefore changing the end date with it). You are able to scroll horizontally using devices that support this (such as trackpads or mice that have horizontally scrolling), but if your device doesn't have it, then holding down "Shift" while scrolling with a regular vertical mouse wheel will scroll left and right. We have a list of other similar shortcuts to moving around the timeline on our support page here: h ttps://help.aeontimeline.com/article/8-timeline-view I'm glad you like the program, let us know if you have any more questions or suggestions and we will take them on board to consider in the future.
