Historical template v. Fiction template?

Hello Aeon users, I've just discovered this marvelous app and am looking forward to using it to help me untangle a long manuscript. My question is about the difference between the Fiction template and the Historical template. I can't seem to find an answer.

Hmm, this posted before I asked my specific question . . . Does the Historical Template offer a parallel timeline of historic events to see alongside my own written events? What is the advantage of using the Historical Template?

cariscribe, You can use the Historical template to record and display events from the 'real world' alongside the development of your own fictional characters and story, Yes. You could use different Categories (in different colours) to distinguish and track each of these. The videos here might be helpful:

Hi, You can see the differences between the Historical and Fiction templates by opening the Timeline Settings (cog icon) inside a timeline created with each of the templates. The main differences are just the entity types - for example for Fiction writers there are "Characters" and "Locations", whereas for people documenting historical events, in the Historical Template there are "People" and "Places". However templates are fully customisable, so you can change them for your own purposes. As msealey mentions, the Historical template already has an entity type called "Category" which you could use to keep track of the different types of events (historical or written), or you could add your own entity type to either template to track the same thing. Thank you both so much for your replies. I think the Fiction template will be the best one for me after all, once I get the hang of it. I'm seeing the best way forward is to check out the Examples in each template. Also, just trying things out!
