Timeline Display
You can tailor what’s visible on your timeline to suit the purpose of your timeline, or your current stage of work.
What Can Be Shown?
Events on the timeline are represented by item cards. These can show dates, links, images, assigned people or locations, and other details. You can customize item cards to show only the information you need.
When you select an event, all its details—including any not shown on the timeline—will appear in the Inspector.
Events are shown on the timeline once they're given a date. Other item types, like people or places, can also be set to show on the timeline.
Customize Item Card Fields
Use the Item Display menu to control what appears on the item card on the timeline. Toggle options on and off with the checkboxes, or click the arrow to expand the list and select individual items.
The preview shows how everything will sit on the card, giving you a sense of the layout if the data hasn’t been entered yet.
Different Examples
Label Only
For a minimalist look showing only the event marker and the label, deselect all the boxes in the item card menu.
Dates and Durations
To show the dates and a calculation of the duration of an event in text, select the checkbox for Dates. Open the dropdown to select either option individually.
Related Items
To show items related to the event, such as assigned people or locations, select the checkbox for Relationships. Open the dropdown to select options individually.
Links & Attachments
To display images, attachments, and clickable links, select the checkbox for Attachments.
Dependency Lines
If you’ve set up task dependencies, checking the box for Dependency Lines shows a visual link between events, highlighting what’s blocking or being blocked.
Finding Information Not Visible on the Timeline
Details of Events
Information that might be hidden on the timeline can be viewed in the Inspector panel when the event is selected.
Collapsed panels provide a quick preview of their contents. Click to expand to see the details.
People, places, or other items not on the timeline
Events or tasks are the key components of most timelines.
Other item types, such as people or documents, can also be shown on the timeline. To enable this, set the item type to allow dates and show in timeline view.
Items not shown on the timeline can also be viewed via their panels in the sidebar.
The item types available in your file depend on your selected template. You can add more or customize them any time.
Choosing the Dates for Your Timeline
Use the slider in the footer to adjust the timescale zoom. Slide left for a large scale overview of the timeline, or slide right for more accurate dates.

- In the footer, select Dates.
- Click Scroll to date.
- Type or select a date to scroll to.
